The American Society of Radiologic Technologists is the world's largest and oldest radiologic science organization. Founded in 1920, ASRT now has more than 94,000 members. ASRT's mission is to give medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals the knowledge, resources and support they need to provide quality patient care. ASRT provides its members with educational opportunities, promotes radiologic technology as a career and monitors state and federal legislation that affects the profession. The ASRT is also instrumental in establishing standards of practice, education curricula and entry-level standards for the profession.
Publications
ASRT publishes two peer-reviewed research journals and a newsmagazine. Radiologic Technology, published bimonthly, focuses on advances in technology and patient care and offers ASRT members the opportunity to earn continuing education credit through its Directed Readings program. Radiation Therapist, published twice a year, is devoted exclusively to radiation therapy professionals and focuses on technical advances in radiation therapy. It features a Directed Readings program that ASRT members may use for CE credit. The monthly newsmagazine, ASRT Scanner, helps members stay up-to-date on the issues affecting them and their profession.
